I just delivered the Mozart Magic Cube to my grandchildren today for Christmas. Big hit with everybody, of course, and it DID have batteries in place, ready to start using immediately after unwrapping. Ordered mine from Amazon.com.

Agreed: the sound quality of each instrument is only fair. Yes, volume is too loud, and the ON/OFF button is hard to find when you’re trying to silence it quickly.

However, the concept is otherwise well-executed; every button does what it’s supposed to. Very durable, too. 16mo old occasionally likes to throw it to the kitchen floor, but the designers of this cube anticipated such abuse in using heavy-duty plastic with substantial, rubber-like corners.

Over the time of 6mo. to 16mo., our youngster has really increased his enjoyment of this toy. Recommended.
